Web Widgets or Desktop Widgets- which ones are better

A widget is “a part of a GUI that allows the user to interface with the application and operating system.” In a layman’s term the widgets are a chunk of short script or code which when used on the desktop or on web can perform various user interface features. The best part of the widgets is that they are ready made the user need to be a professional to install it within their system. Mostly the widgets will include buttons, dialog boxes, pop-up windows, pull down menus, icons and so on. There are mainly two kinds of widgets used popularly by the people, one is Desktop widget and another one is web widget. Though the difference between the two is very thin, let’s just look at the difference between the two and learn which one is better for your common use.
Desktop widgets:
A Desktop widget is a small application that can provide you with required information by connecting to the internet from your desktop itself. For instance, a weather widget on your desktop, it accesses the web continuously and provides you with the weather details on your screen.
However, for making use of these widgets you need to install a separate application first. For instance something like a toolbar, or widgets tool bar so that once it is installed you can make it display on your screens.
Web Widgets:
A web widget is also a mini application that can enhance a website, blog, social networking profile and lot more by simply copy/pasting it to required place. However, these are web based and can function only on the websites or blogs or anywhere on the WWW. For example, making use of a piece of code script from Youtube, to post it on your blog or website is making use of embedding web widget.
The Contrast and Compare:
Therefore, both web widgets and desktop widgets are a piece of code which is ready for use. However, the difference is that for using a web widget you need to be on a website, while for a desktop widget displays the information on your desktop screen itself but it does make use of the internet.
The use of the widgets is done separately and therefore, their advantages also differ. Both of them are good in their own ways and hence it depends on your usage if a web widget is good for you or a desktop widget. However, one essential point and the basic point of difference is that desktop widgets are stable whereas the web widgets go with you wherever you go!
